PSG is back in the quarter-finals of the Champions League: after three successive failures in the eighth, Paris beat and eliminated Wednesday Dortmund (2-0), while the defending champion Liverpool started overtime against Atlético Madrid.

Constrained in camera due to the epidemic of new coronavirus, and to victory after its 2-1 defeat in the first leg, PSG took the initiative at the start of the match.

Three minutes after a duel narrowly lost by Edinson Cavani against the goalkeeper of Borussia (25th), Neymar scored the first Parisian goal with a diving head.

Juan Bernat doubled the bet just before half time (45th + 1) to protect the French champion.

The second period was not interspersed with any goal, but nervousness went up a notch in the last moments of regulation time: Emre Can was notably excluded after a violent push on Neymar.

With their 2-0 success, the Parisians advance to the quarterfinals of the C1 for the first time since 2016. Four years ago, PSG had finally bowed down against Manchester City.

Dortmund failed for the second year in a row in the round of 16, after undergoing the law of Tottenham, the future finalist, in 2019.

In the other game of the evening, Liverpool were forced into extra time by Atlético Madrid.

In front of their supporters at Anfield, the winners of the last edition of the C1 took control at the end of the first period thanks to the Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum (1-0, 43rd), served by his teammate Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The midfielder's goal tied the two teams as the Colchoneros won 1-0 in the first leg. Despite the intense pressing of the Reds, the score did not change in the second period, enough to force the two teams to play at least thirty minutes more.

Eliminated from the British Cup and almost assured of its first national title in 30 years, Liverpool would experience a gloomy end to the season if they were eliminated from the Champions League.

PSG and the second qualifier of the evening will join the Atalanta Bergamo and Leipzig in the quarterfinals, who validated their ticket on Tuesday at the expense of Valencia and Tottenham.

The last four round of 16 games will be played Tuesday and Wednesday, and the draw for the quarter and semi-finals is scheduled for Friday, March 20.
