US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he had a "very good conversation" with the Taliban leader, after the armed group confirmed his call to Mullah Pradar.

"In fact, I had a very good conversation with the Taliban leader," Trump told reporters at the White House, without mentioning the name of the movement's political leader Pradar who led the talks before signing the historic agreement between Washington and the movement in Doha on Saturday.

In the name of the movement, Zabihullah Mujahid, wrote on Twitter: “The President of the United States .. made a phone call to the movement’s political official, Mullah Pradar Akhund.”

Washington signed an agreement with the Taliban to withdraw American soldiers from Afghanistan within a 14-month period, 18 years after the outbreak of the longest wars in US history.
