The Russian Foreign Minister said that during the talks they discussed ways to settle in Libya on the basis of the initiatives proposed during the Berlin conference.

"We are united in the need to ensure a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Libya through a broad national dialogue ... For Russia, it is fundamentally important to continue to move forward solely on the basis of the Libyan parties to agree to specific practical steps," Lavrov emphasized.

He also recalled the importance of complying with UN Security Council decisions.

According to him, Russia and Italy plan to continue the dialogue on Libyan issues in the form of special consultations in a few weeks.

Earlier, participants in the international meeting in Berlin established a committee on Libya to hold regular meetings chaired by the UN in the capitals of the participating countries.

On February 13, following a Berlin conference on Libya, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution confirming support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country.
