Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the situation with Russians held in Libya

This was reported by the FAN with reference to the response of the foreign ministry to the relevant request.

“We inform that it is difficult to enter into direct contact with Maxim Shugaley and Samer Sueifan, since the staff of the Russian embassy in Libya was evacuated from Tripoli to Tunisia in the summer of 2014,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry added that the dialogue with representatives of the PNS continues, the Russian side calls for the immediate release of the Russians.

In July 2019, the media reported the detention in Libya of two employees of the Russian National Interests Protection Fund (FESC) on charges of "trying to influence future elections in this country."

In January, President of the Federal Center for Science and Technology Alexander Malkevich demanded that the head of the Liberal Democratic Party, Faiz Sarraj, release Shugaley and Sueifan.
