In order to strengthen the command tower function for disaster prevention, the government and LDP are considering jointly assigning disaster prevention staff members of the Cabinet Secretariat and the Cabinet Office to work together.
In response to a series of disasters such as typhoons, the government and the LDP, under the Cabinet Crisis Management Supervision, are aiming to strengthen the control tower function that performs everything from disaster drills to emergency restoration and reconstruction.
Specifically, we are considering jointly assigning staff members in charge of disaster prevention and nuclear disaster prevention, which are assigned to the Cabinet Secretariat and the Cabinet Office, respectively, and work together.
In addition, in order to share information on a daily basis, executives of related ministries and agencies gathering at the Prime Minister's official residence immediately after a disaster will have a place to meet regularly every month.
Furthermore, with the aim of expanding the capacity of the Cabinet Secretariat and the Cabinet Office in charge of disaster prevention, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of the Environment are also adjusting whether or not staff can be dispatched.
The government and the LDP intend to proceed with further concrete considerations and implement them in order.
