American Kai Lenny and Frenchwoman Justine Dupont won the title of best wave in the men and women categories on Tuesday during the Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge, the first towed and team surfing competition, the World Surf League announced.

The "Young Bulls" team, made up of Kai Lenny and the Brazilian Lucas Chianca, obtained the title of the best team.

During the competition, Portuguese surfer Alex Botelho was injured and lost consciousness for almost two minutes. He was hospitalized for exams, but his condition is not worrying, a doctor at Leiria hospital told local media.

In total, nineteen surfers participated in this competition in ten teams, in Nazaré, a small fishing port about 130 kilometers north of Lisbon known for its giant swells.

The competing teams were towed by jet ski and then set off to attack the waves. All the action was filmed during the day from various viewpoints.

A panel of experts then selected the best waves, before the surfers met to choose the winners, whose names were announced Tuesday evening.
