Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas rejected the US plan for peace in the Middle East, and confirmed that it contained 311 violations of international law, stressing that it cannot achieve peace and security, because it "canceled international legitimacy decisions and we will face their implementation on the ground." He also stressed that they should not be considered or any Part of it is as an international reference for negotiation, and he refused to trade economic aid for political solutions, while stressing that the Palestinian Authority "is ready to start negotiations if a partner is found in Israel under the auspices of the Quartet."

In his speech to the UN Security Council in New York yesterday, Abbas added, "The widespread rejection of this deal comes because of the unilateral stances it contained, its explicit violation of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative, and canceled the legality of the demands of our people in its legitimate right to self-determination and to obtain their freedom and independence in His state, and legalized the illegal settlement, takeover and annexation of the Palestinian territories ».

The President stressed that this deal or any part of it should not be considered as an international reference for negotiation, because it is a proactive Israeli-American, and it came to liquidate the Palestinian issue, which will not bring security or peace to the region, stressing its non-acceptance and facing its implementation on the ground.

The Palestinian President said that peace between the Palestinian and Israeli people is still possible and achievable, calling for building an international partnership to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace, which we still adhere to as a strategic choice.

He added: "We have already taken historic steps to ensure peace, and we responded to the successive efforts of the American administrations, international initiatives, and all calls for dialogue and negotiation, but he did not offer us anything that meets the minimum level of justice for our people, and the current occupation government was the one that failed all efforts." .

He stressed the refusal to trade economic aid for political solutions, because the basis is a political solution.

The International Quartet, represented by the United States, the Russian Federation, the European Union, the United Nations, and members of the Security Council, called for an international peace conference, in the presence of Palestine, Israel, and other concerned countries, to implement international legitimacy resolutions, led by Security Council Resolution 2334 of 2016, which demanded that Israel stop the immediate settlement of settlements in the Palestinian territories Occupied, and the vision of a two-state solution and the Arab peace initiative, by establishing an international mechanism based on the Quartet to sponsor peace negotiations between the two sides.

The Palestinian President reaffirmed that America’s mediation is not accepted alone, calling on the international community to put pressure on the occupation government to stop its occupation practices and its continuous decisions to annex the Palestinian territories and impose sovereignty on them, “which inevitably destroys all opportunities for real peace-making.”

He affirmed that he is reaching out for peace, warning against losing the last opportunity, and that he is ready to start negotiations immediately if he finds a true partner in Israel to make a real peace for the two peoples.

Addressing the Israeli people, he added: "The continuation of occupation, settlement and military control over another people will not make you security or peace. We have only one option to be partners and neighbors in their independent and sovereign state."

He reaffirmed that "our struggle is not with the adherents of Judaism, but with those who occupy our land, so we will continue our struggle to end the occupation and embody our Palestinian state."

For his part, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, at the start of the UN Security Council session on the US peace plan in the Middle East: "The United Nations is committed to supporting the Palestinians and Israelis to achieve a two-state solution ... The United Nations is committed to a just peace."

As for the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolai Mladenov, he said that "we must listen to the proposals for peace", but added, "Peace will not be achieved except with two states, the 1967 borders, and East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinians."

Mladenov considered that "unilateral steps will have negative effects across the region," saying that "the time has come to return to an acceptable mediation framework."
