The Abu Dhabi Appeals Court heard the case of an Arab youth accused of sending pornographic material to a girl through the social networking program "WhatsApp", and the court convicted him and sentenced him to a fine of 10 thousand dirhams.

In detail, the court of first instance examined the case and then acquitted the young man of the charge against him, while the Public Prosecution appealed the ruling, and the Appeals Court ruled to cancel the ruling and fined the accused 10,000 dirhams.

The young man did not accept the ruling and vetoed it before the Court of Cassation, which considered the case and accepted the veto, and ruled that the case be re-examined before the Court of Appeal.

During the appeal session, the defendant denied sending the interrupted clips to the victim, indicating that at that time he was outside the state, while his lawyer argued that the case and that the imposition of its validity was not within the jurisdiction of the Abu Dhabi courts, because the accused was present at the time of the crime outside the state.

The lawyer argued that the case could not be heard beforehand, as the victim filed another lawsuit in the country of the accused, and obtained a verdict of one year imprisonment, and during the appeal, the accused obtained the acquittal, and submitted an explanation memo containing copies of the rulings previously issued, and the court decided to reserve the case for the ruling On February 18th.
