Glenn Olsson tells us that it is intensively working to secure a competition.

- Everyone wants it to be a competition, then it remains to be seen what it will look like. We have never been in such a situation before the rally. These situations have arisen during the actual rally week, says Olsson.

And develops:

- The difference this year is that we did not have a cold period.

Earlier today, the organizer announced that they would have to cancel the historic class to ensure that the World Cup rally gets the best possible conditions.

So far, however, the World Cup competition is planned to run as planned and no stretches are currently being stretched, but the International Automobile Sports Association (FIA) inspects the stretches and the factory stalls will also have their say. Among other things, the FIA's representatives check the safety aspects of the tires, whether the tires hold and the grip on the roads.

- The teams really want to know, they're on their way. Some people are planning their tests fully, so it is these days that they want black and white that it looks good, says Glenn Olsson.

And continues:

- We have made an agreement that it will be a winter rally, but now it is as it is and we are trying to make the best of the situation.

Frozen road a must

There are several factors that come into play when assessing whether the routes are runable or not.

- Safety always goes first, we have to be able to take an ambulance on the route it must not be too traceable. We must have a frozen road that holds otherwise we cannot drive, says Glenn Olsson.

How big is the risk that you have to cancel?

- The risk is absolute and it always exists, the threat we have had several times before. Our attitude is that we will do everything we can to get to a competition, that is the situation we are in.

Current weather forecasts do not indicate any immediate improvement in the coming days.

- The forecast can change, we can get minus degrees and snow but as it looks now we have challenges. We do not have a "fridge in the slopes" as before.

Twice the Swedish Rally has been completely canceled, 1974 due to the oil crisis and 1990 due to mild weather.

In 2016, the weather situation was also acute as thawed roads jeopardized the rally. There was competition but several special sections were canceled due to the weather and the historic class was canceled.
