The Foreign Ministry of the Libyan Accord Government confirmed that it wants Morocco to play a major role in the Libyan file, "based on the unification of the two countries' stance on the Libyan crisis" and the coordination of efforts to solve it.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the ministry said that Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita assured his Libyan counterpart, Mohamed Eltaher, of the support of the Kingdom of Morocco and its full support for the government of national reconciliation.

The statement said that the Moroccan minister confirmed Rabat’s recognition of the Al-Wefaq government alone as a legitimate authority in Libya, in accordance with the Skhirat Agreement and Security Council resolutions, and that it completely rejects the external interference which he described as “shameless”.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya said that representatives of the retired Major General Khalifa Hifter will participate in the JMC five-to-five talks, to be held soon in Geneva.

This came after a meeting of the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salama, in Haftar, in the eastern city of Benghazi, where they discussed the political and economic tracks.
