“In accordance with paragraph 45 of the outcome document of the Berlin Conference, we demand the immediate release of Russian citizens who were illegally detained by your government,” the text says.
As indicated on the foundation’s website, similar letters requesting to influence Sarraj were sent to UN Secretary General Antoni Gutteris and his Special Representative for Libya Gassan Salama.
Foreign Minister of the PNS, Mohammed Siyala, commenting on the message in an interview with RIA Novosti, said that Sarraj does not intervene in the investigation.
“Faiz Sarraj does not interfere with the work of the judiciary. An investigation is underway regarding these two (Russians), when it is completed, the judiciary will speak out, ”he said.
In early July, media outlets reported the detention in Tripoli of two Russian citizens on charges of "attempting to influence future elections in this country."
