A person who was injured during the New Zealand volcano's eruption in White Island in December has died, New Zealand police announced on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 21. John Tims, a senior New Zealand police official, said the patient died in an Auckland hospital, without giving details.

Forty-seven people, mainly Australian tourists, were surprised on December 9 by this eruption which occurred while visiting this volcanic island located in the north of New Zealand. Nineteen people died in New Zealand, and two in Australia. This report includes two people whose bodies have not been found.
