The Swedish handball star was only selected in the gross squad for the European Championship due to his shoulder injury, but there was still little hope of playing in the championship which starts tonight, Friday, against Switzerland.

But that is definitely not the case.

"Sad news: Mattias Zachrisson, who was taken out of the gross squad for the European Championships, has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation and is forced into a new shoulder operation in two weeks," the handball national team writes in social media.

It was in mid-August that Zachrisson, everyday in Füchse Berlin in the Bundesliga, sustained the injury and underwent an initial operation of the shoulder.

SVT Sport is in place and reports directly from the premiere match at home European Championship starting at 20.15.
