Yesterday, Lebanese President Michel Aoun affirmed that political reunification would be established to form an effective government to address the international community.

Aoun, during a press statement in Beirut, expressed his optimism that the current crisis could be overcome, saying, "We are exerting all our efforts to overcome the difficulties, but we always need the solidarity of society."

He hoped that "the new government will be formed in the next few days, and that the new year will gradually bring about an improvement in the situation."

He added, "What we are doing today is an attempt to unite the political people to form an effective government that addresses the international community who wants to help us, after we have suffered the effects of international wars in our region, foremost of which is the heavy Syrian displacement to Lebanon."

And he considered that the chaos that ruled the country in the past three decades, produced the explosion that takes place today, due to the inability of people to bear more.

Aoun said, "If the crisis remains the same, and the citizens protest against them without an amount of calm, then the crisis will worsen as it is today, because the permanent descent to the street, and the closure of roads, will disrupt the rest of our production."

It is noteworthy that Lebanon has been witnessing popular protests since last October 17, after which the head of the caretaker government Saad Hariri submitted his resignation, in response to the will of the protesters, 13 days after the start of the popular protests.

Hassan Diab was assigned to form a new government on December 19, and Diab is consulting to form his government.
