The ex-president of Benin Boni Yayi who lived in Nigeria returned discreetly this Sunday December 29 in Cotonou. Confined to his home during the post-election crisis, he was finally allowed to leave the country for medical treatment. Last November, thanks to an amnesty law, President Talon declared that he could return without fear.

The former president arrived in total discretion early in the afternoon this Sunday. He returned to Cotonou on a commercial flight from a company in the sub-region, coming from Lomé, informs a source.

He was alone with one of his sons, no foreign delegation accompanied him, unlike his flash passage in Cotonou on November 20 last with emissaries from the ECOWAS. He had boycotted an appointment with President Talon at the Marina Palace that day.

On his arrival and according to indiscretions, there was no partisan to welcome him, there was also no crowd bath. A rather unusual situation for the former head of state. Even the surroundings of his residence were deserted. One of his relatives says that the former president decided to do things differently.

On the other hand, an observer estimates that this arrival without drum or trumpet could perhaps have been negotiated. According to our information Boni Yayi should stay several days, at least until the end of the year holidays. The rest of the agenda is not yet known.
