The historic president of the Toulon Rugby Club, Mourad Boudjellal, confirmed his departure at the end of the season Sunday at the Stade Mayol before the start of the Top 14 match against Clermont.

"This is the last year I will present the wishes," he said three weeks after the official change of ownership.

Boudjellal has indeed sold the club to Bernard Lemaître, already entered the club's capital in 2018 before increasing its share this summer and owning 44% of the RCT. Boudjellal remains president for the current season before retiring.

After an ovation from the Var supporters, he wanted to "thank them for the happiness" that the public brought him and who "accepted him with his dirty character".

"I tried to change the destiny of this club, I hope that something will remain of it", concluded the one who allowed the club to recruit great stars of world rugby and to win three European Cups ( from 2013 to 2015) and a Top 14 (2014).
