The 53-year-old man was arrested in late November on suspicion of child rape. When the detention hearing was held on Tuesday, the crime had been re-classified as gross.

"I make that assessment based on information that has emerged and also the age of the plaintiff," says prosecutor Rahima Ortac.

Same person

The man is also suspected of two cases of gross sexual abuse against children. According to the prosecutor, it must be the same defendant, a person who has not been able to fulfill 15 years during the time period that the crimes should have been committed, between 2014 and 2019.

How does the suspect approach the new crime suspects?

- I can't go into that, says Rahima Ortac.

The detention is for a month ahead and according to Rahima Ortac the investigation will take time.

- The investigation is ongoing and we will prioritize the case as this is a target with a detained person involved. I will request a month because I know that the investigation will not be completed within two weeks. It is a comprehensive material and the suspect should also be questioned.
