Nigerian singer Asa will be in concert at the Trianon this Monday in Paris. She is on tour to present " Lucid " , her fourth album. Asa had already made a dramatic entry into the music scene in France in 2008, winning the Constantin Prize for her first opus.
She has since continued on her path with professional success, but not always strewn with roses, from a more personal point of view. With Lucid , Asa's fourth album, it's about love, in all its colors, including the darkest.
An album in the era of time
"Murder in the Usa" is the first song from this fourth album. Accompanied by a shock clip, she tells the story of a young woman in the grip of a jealous fiancé, who rapes her and will eventually kill her. And it is very timely, in the middle of the campaign against feminicides. But that is not the news that inspired Asa, who lives between Lagos and her Parisian pied-à-terre, but rather her personal life.
“ I grew up in Lagos seeing my mother in this kind of relationship with my father, and wondering why she continued to go through all of this. This song is about the signs that should alert us and make us flee from a destructive relationship. Society expects us to be good wives, to stay for the children, but today, in 2019, I say to myself "no! I don't have to," "says Asa.
The starting point of the album Lucid and its fourteen titles is at the same time the end point of a love story lived by the singer. It will have lasted 5 years, the time since Bed Of Stone , his last album.
