This week, SIK sent the last application for money to the project, something Local newspaper was the first to report. The hope is to finance the project mainly with money from the General Heritage Fund, but also with grants from, among others, the National Sports Association, the Västerbotten sports association and the Swedish Housing Agency. In addition, it is hoped that local sponsors will help.

Harald Kristiansen, a member of the football section's board, says that the arena would make a big difference for local football.

- We will be able to extend the season by two months. Today we are not allowed to walk on grass until July and then it is football break and with this we will be able to start as early as April which creates completely different conditions.

"Become a gathering place"

In addition to the artificial green, a "multicourt" (an indoor plan adapted for many different sports) is planned, a skatepark, an activity area for dogs, an obstacle course and a stage that can be used for cultural events. Everything must be handicapped accessible.

- We were out in the schools and among the associations and compiled their wishes and created these plans based on it, says Kristiansen.

- The idea is that this will be a gathering place so that people go there spontaneously and not just when they have training time.
