The phenomenon is called plate ice and is round ice formations formed in flowing water. When they spin, they scrape against each other and an edge is formed around them, which makes them reminiscent of plates.

- I looked down into the water and saw that there was something there that looked like a plate, and then another came and then we saw the vortex with probably 70-80 pieces, says Anders Törnell, who happened to see the phenomenon at Klabböle outside Umeå .

The icebergs also impress SVT meteorologist Tora Tomasdottir.

- It's a fun phenomenon. Through the currents the ice is built on and so it becomes such "plates".
