The motivation for the price, according to a press release, was above all the ability to interact and to take responsibility for the development of the village itself.

- This is a receipt for us doing a good job for the countryside, says Elin Ericsson, who received the award.

She believes that more and more people care about rural areas and that rural issues are becoming increasingly important.

- What is good for the countryside is also good for the city and vice versa, she says.

This is the third time in four years that the award goes to Sörmland. Previously, Stavsjö and Vingåker received it.
