“Attempts to return Russia to the energy market of Ukraine should be stopped by coordinated actions of the patriotic opposition and citizens of Ukraine,” the statement of the Interfax-Ukraine party cites.

In “European Solidarity”, in particular, they demanded an investigation into the head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine Alexey Orzhel, who stated the need to conclude a new gas supply contract with Gazprom.

“If this is the initiative of the minister, we demand his immediate resignation and the opening of criminal proceedings for high treason ... to investigate and interrogate Minister Orzhel in order to find out possible Russian influence in order to persuade him to sign gas agreements in the interests of Russia,” the party stressed .

They also noted that due to the gas issue, Ukraine for several years was the subject of "gas blackmail of Russia."

“Dependence on Russian gas is a threat to Ukraine’s independence itself,” the deputies concluded.

Members of European Solidarity warned that they would express a “strong protest” if returning to Russian gas supplies is “the new green team policy.”

Earlier, Orzhel called the signing of a gas transit agreement with Moscow until the end of 2019 the absolute priority of Ukraine.

Later, this position was confirmed by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.
