Victims of a "Mediterranean episode" of rare intensity, the departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Var were hit by torrential rains on the coast between Friday and Sunday. Thousands of people have seen the damage and started cleaning their homes to scoop up the water that has infiltrated everywhere. But Sunday night, there will still be hundreds to sleep away from home. Many have had the fear of their lives during these storms of a rare intensity. Among them, Marina. She had to flee her Fréjus home with her children in the middle of the night. "We were evacuated around 1am," says the mother, "my children said to me, 'Mom, we're going to die here.' I had to be there for them." At the microphone of Europe 1, she describes a scene of "pure madness".

"We lose all his bearings, his memories"

Faced with the rising waters, a family from Saint-Aygulf, in the Var, was also forced to leave home. "The municipal police passed by telling us that we had to evacuate.We did not have a choice.It is not known in what state we will find the house," says the father.

Marie-Josée, she was collected in a gymnasium of Frejus. This 62-year-old woman lived in a mobile home because her house was uninhabitable since the 2014 floods. Her mobile home has also become inaccessible. This is the fourth time she has been flooded. "I gave all my savings to buy my house and when we started to suffer the floods, we did not believe it ... 2010, 2011, 2014 and now: we are wiped out We lose all our bearings, our memories, you have to start all over again, "says Marie-Josée at the microphone of Europe 1." Now the mobile home is flooded too, I have no place to ask myself, "she laments.
