The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) did not receive a report from the deputy director of the department, Valery Maksimenko, about the dismissal, the press service said.

Earlier, human rights activist, a former member of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission, Ivan Melnikov, said that Maksimenko wrote a letter of resignation of his own free will.

According to him, the management has not yet made a decision.

Maksimenko was appointed deputy head of the FSIN in April 2016. He is an honorary employee of the penal system.
