For his part, warned the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols in Abu Dhabi Police, Brigadier General Salem Abdullah Al Dhaheri, within the campaign «safety trail» from the dangers of exceeding the red light signal, stressing that it is one of the most serious violations leading to deaths and serious injuries.
He pointed out that there are serious traffic accidents, due to the lack of attention of drivers to the red light signal to the left, when opening the traffic light to the forward, calling on drivers to pay attention to the color of the traffic light at the intersections in the direction of traffic, and adhere to lane turn left or turn .
The Abu Dhabi Police revealed that the number of violations exceeded the red light signal in Abu Dhabi during the first half of this year, 4367 violations, while 52 incidents occurred on the intersections of light signals, resulting in six deaths, and 54 serious and moderate injuries, during the same period.
She stressed the need to pay attention and reduce the speed at the intersections so that the driver can better control the movement and stop when the color change of the traffic light, pointing to the intensification of efforts aimed at drivers, to enhance the commitment to traffic safety at the intersections.
It is worth mentioning that Abu Dhabi Police announced in 2009 to change the traffic light system on some roads, including the Arabian Gulf Street inward and outward, as part of the efforts of the Supreme Committee to resolve traffic problems and provide a good flow of traffic for vehicles going inward and outward on the Arabian Gulf Street.
