“The German Bundestag calls on the German government to take all necessary counter-measures to protect European firms participating in the Nord Stream-2 project from US sanctions,” the document says.
In addition, the deputies urge the German authorities to provide financial resources from the German Development Bank in case of possible negative consequences of the sanctions on the project, in order to avoid cost increases and delays in the project.
Also in the appeal, parliamentarians are asking the government to protect themselves from US political pressure.
“For the United States, this is nothing more than their economic and financial interests. They want to use aggressive methods to impose their expensive and environmentally questionable gas produced by the method of fracking, Germany and Europe. This policy does not correspond to the market economy and competition that the United States itself advocates, but is an unacceptable act of aggression. The German government must defend itself against US political pressure, ”the AdG emphasized.
