The Ministry of Interior in the Government of National Accord announced the killing of two members and wounding four others of the rapid reaction force after the bombing of a retired brigade Brigadier Khalifa Hifter on the central support headquarters in the Ain Zara area south of Tripoli.

The ministry said in a statement that the raid was preceded by targeting the headquarters of the Interior Ministry in the past days, and vowed to prosecute the perpetrators of these criminal acts and bring them to justice.

Since April 4, Tripoli, the seat of the Wefaq government, and its environs have been the scene of armed clashes after Hifter's forces launched an offensive to control it, amid a government alert.

Hifter's attack on Tripoli thwarted efforts by the United Nations to hold a dialogue conference among Libyans as part of a UN roadmap to tackle the conflict.

Germany is preparing to host an international conference on Libya later this November, bringing together the parties involved in a political solution to end the struggle for legitimacy and power in the country.
