In the budget bill, the government proposes to spend SEK 15 million for both 2020 and 2021 and then 20 million in 2022 to secure access to veterinarians. The proposal is that all animals receive the care they need, regardless of the time of day and where in the country.

- Today, more diseases can be cured in animals than before. But also a changed behavior of pet owners that makes them seek more and more care. We have not been able to match that with educational places and other things, says Jennie Nilsson.

The budget bill is based on an agreement between the government, the Center Party and the Liberals.

- We give the money to the Swedish Agricultural Agency, which will distribute the money where the needs are greatest, says the rural minister.
