Donald Trump said Tuesday that the ISIS leader's "number one" successor killed during a US forces raid last weekend was also "eliminated".

As usual, the US President shared the news on the social network Twitter: "Just to have confirmation that the replacement number one Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had been eliminated by US troops. (He) would certainly took the lead (from the group) - Now he's dead too! ", tweeted the US president. The tenant of the White House did not give the identity of this individual nor provided details on the circumstances of his death.

Just confirmed that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's number one replacement has been terminated by American troops. Most likely would have taken the top spot - now he is also dead!

The body of al-Baghdadi was immersed at sea

It was not clear in the immediate term if Donald Trump was referring to the death Sunday of the IS spokesman. Kurdish forces announced the death of Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's right-hand man and spokesman for the Daesh organization, in a new raid in northern Syria ( an Arabic acronym for IS). On Sunday, President Trump announced the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi during a US military operation in northwestern Syria on Saturday night.

He gave a detailed account of the raid in which Baghdadi was cornered by US forces and then blew himself up with his explosive belt. The body of the head of the IS was immersed at sea, said Monday a Pentagon official, a maritime burial chosen to prevent a possible tomb becomes a place of pilgrimage.
