All unsolved murders that the police will open again have been sent to Uppsala where cold cases the group will go through them. These two are not included in the delivery:

• The so-called MC murder in 2001

The former leader of the criminal motorcycle gang The Brotherhood had recently been released from a 12-year prison sentence. He was 44 at the time and returned to his family in Västerås. A few weeks later, on the evening of May 30, he got out of bed and told his partner that he would go out for a short while. Without putting on his jacket, he left home and never came back.

- The MC murder is not a cold case because the person is reported missing and not found. As long as we do not have a body, we will not address it, says Ove Dahlberg, one of the police officers who is part of the cold case group.

• The murder of Johanna Moller's ex-spouse 2015

The 42-year-old man was found lifeless in Hjälmaren after police and emergency services were alerted by the man's former wife Johanna Möller. The police who came to the scene later told that they left the summer cottage with a feeling that something was wrong but crime could not be substantiated and the investigation was closed. The incident was classified as a drowning accident until a year later when Johanna Moller's father was murdered at the same summer cottage. In connection with the murder, the police decided to re-examine the drowning accident. The grave was opened and a forensic doctor found that her husband had probably died elsewhere than in the lake water.

- He did not die naturally at that place so in practice it is a cold case but we would need new circumstances here, for example if someone would tell us something new, to open it again.

Since there has already been a trial and Johanna Möller was acquitted in the High Court, it will be extra difficult to open the case again.

- I will call and talk to the prosecutor and see if there is anything that will allow us to look at it again. Then it may happen that the case falls on our list, says Ove Dahlberg.
