Iraqi Minister of Communications, Naim Thujail al-Rubaie, said yesterday that the ministry has informed the country's telecommunications companies that they will stop Internet services, on Friday and Saturday, in order to conduct maintenance work in service towers in the capital Baghdad and the provinces.

The Minister of Communications, in an official statement distributed yesterday, that the Ministry of Communications has asked the telecommunications companies and mobile phones to cut Internet services to subscribers from six o'clock on Friday morning, and until eleven o'clock on Saturday night. The decision of the Ministry of Communications coincides with protests planned in Baghdad and the provinces on Friday.

For his part, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, yesterday, that his country needs support to face terrorism and achieve cooperation in its strategic relations.

"Norway has a successful experience with generational funds, and its highly qualified companies can contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq," he said during a meeting yesterday with Norwegian Prime Minister Arena Solberg. Solberg held a meeting with Iraqi President Barham Salih and reviewed with him the international efforts in the war on terrorism and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
