After the occupation of a shopping center in Paris, Extinction Rebellion is considering new actions

They had made an appointment and converged on the Place d'Italie in Paris, Saturday, October 5 in the morning. Hundreds of activists from different political backgrounds - including environmental activists including members of Extinction Rebellion (XR), Yellow Vests and members of the Truth Committee for Adama - occupied the Italy 2 shopping mall before leaving it at midnight, at 4:30 am, Sunday 6.

For 17 hours, protesters have invested a "symbol of capitalism" as a prelude to a week of international actions of the civil disobedience movement Extinction Rebellion (XR), which wants to force governments to declare the climate emergency - as it is got from the British government last May.

"Work, consume and shut your mouth", "A-ha, anti, anti, anti-capitalist", could we hear especially among the slogans of the protesters, the sound of drums, or "And one, and two, and three degrees, it's a crime against humanity. " Slogans and a non-violent action that join the fight of the XR movement, which is in its infancy in France, as France 24 explained in July.

"This blockage is in convergence with other associations and movements, in this emblematic place of consumption that destroys the living," said XR in a statement, claiming "about 1,000 people" on the spot.

A new occupation to come in an unspecified place

Other slogans and banners - also audible and visible on social networks - concerned the situation in Rouen after the fire at the Lubrizol factory or the deadly attack at the police headquarters in Paris.

Vests yellow also sang the song "Even if Macron does not want it, we are there", heard for almost a year in processions every weekend.

The Truth Committee for Adama was also present to block the ecological banner. Assa Traoré, Adama's sister, a figure in the fight against police violence in poor neighborhoods, called in particular to "reproduce these actions". "The ecological movement must also look at what is happening in our neighborhoods, the ecological world must talk about Africa, Asia," she added, according to the Radio Speaker.

Other organizations were also present at the Italy 2 shopping center, and many were happy to have the action, started and ended in peace.

Auspicious for the Extinction Rebellion movement before the start of its week of "civil disobedience" in several countries around the world, including France.
