Passers-by on Al Muteena Street were surprised by the huge amount of money amounting to about one million and 700 thousand dirhams in the air, when a gang kidnapped a suitcase of money from a Chinese merchant, the bag was torn and the money was scattered, and the gang members succeeded in stealing one million and 600 thousand dirhams and fled.
The victim said in the investigation that he was walking on Al Muteena Street at 1:00 pm, and in possession of the amount of one million and 700 thousand dirhams the proceeds of the goods he sold to one of the companies there, and was walking by electric scooter (scooter) on the sidewalk.
When he arrived near a bus stop on Al Muteena Street, before he reached the traffic light leading to Omar Bin Al Khattab Street to his residence, he got out of the bike because the sidewalk was submerged and unfit to walk. Suddenly three people attacked him from the front and sprayed his face with red pepper and then punched him in his left eye. He removed the last bag he was wearing on his back and contained the money and held it with his hand to prevent it from being stolen, but the bag was torn and the money was scattered on the ground and the thieves picked it up, except for 100,000 dirhams.
A witness from the Dubai Police in the prosecution's investigations said that 10 defendants participated in the crime and played various roles, including planning, monitoring and execution, moved two cars and then spotted the defendant, and carried out a number of them attacked him, and took money, and a number of them fled to the city of Al Ain.
The Dubai Public Prosecution referred the case file to the Dubai Criminal Court, which began its hearing.
