One day, when the consumption tax rate was raised, the police informed a woman in her 60s in Saitama Prefecture that "A procedure at an ATM was required to receive a refund due to the consumption tax increase." Calls for attention as a new scam trick that takes advantage of the consumption tax hike and tricks cash.

Around 1:00 pm on the 1st, a man called a city employee at the home of a woman in his 60s living in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture.

The man said, “There is a refund for the insurance premium. Until now, we have been able to do the procedure at the city hall, but since the consumption tax has been raised from the first day, the procedure at the ATM will be necessary.”

The woman who believed in the story tried to go to a nearby ATM that was instructed by the man, but her husband suspected fraud and stopped her.

The police are calling for attention to a similar phone call as a new scam trick that takes advantage of the consumption tax hike and tricks cash.
