US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is summoned to submit to Congress information on Ukraine by October 4. The heads of three House of Representatives committees are demanding that Mike Pompeo address them to the requested documents, on pain of being accused of obstructing justice.

This is the first major act of the investigation into the impeachment process, and is aimed directly at the summit of US diplomacy. A summons was sent to Mike Pompeo to produce by next Friday all documents relating to Donald Trump's appeal to Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

The heads of the three committees of the House had requested from September 9 to the Secretary of State a number of documents relating to the pressure exerted by the US President on his Ukrainian counterpart, but without success.

They are acting this time as part of the impeachment process and threaten: " Your refusal to respect this injunction will be evidence of an impediment to the investigation of the Chamber ."

Five State Department officials are also called for testimony over the next two weeks. "Do not hang around," said Nancy Pelosi Friday morning. The chairmen of the commissions of inquiry have received the message from their leader: they decide to act with " speed and coordination ".

A desire to move quickly in the impeachment proceedings against Trump

Democrats want the impeachment process to go quickly. That's what Nancy Pelosi said this Friday morning. In the first interview she gave since the launch of the procedure, the leader of the majority did not mince words against the White House.

No precise timetable, but a will to go quickly in the procedure: " It is not necessary that it hangs out, " said Nancy Pelosi to the MSNBC channel. The leader of the Democratic majority in the House, who has for months blocked the impeachment, believes that this time she had no alternative.

" It's a very sad moment for the United States. The President of the United States has betrayed his oath, imperiled our national security and the integrity of our elections. He did not give us the choice, "she said.

Nor does Nancy Pelosi spare the Department of Justice, which has tried to prevent the National Intelligence Director from sending the whistle-blower's complaint to Congress.

" I think they're trying to hide that they've smothered the case. And it's really sad to have such a rogue Justice Department. They have been for a long time but it gets worse, "added Nancy Pelosi.

Donald Trump continues to assure him that the telephone exchange in which he asked the Ukrainian president to investigate his rival Joe Biden was appropriate. " It was a perfect conversation ," he tweeted in the morning, all in capital letters.

"IT WAS PERFECT CONVERSATION WITH UKRAINE PRESIDENT!"
