In Nizhnevartovsk, three members of the current cell of the Islamic State were detained, Rosguard reports. Suspects hold radical religious views.

The special operation was carried out by fighters of the SOBR of the Directorate of the Federal Guard of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra in cooperation with the Investigative Committee and other law enforcement agencies.

According to the investigation, the detainees conducted "prohibited activities aimed at indoctrinating and inducing citizens to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization, financing terrorism, promoting ideology and justifying terrorism."

During the searches, detainees found extremist literature, images with texts of extremist content, as well as ammunition, symbols and the flag of a terrorist organization. In addition, during a personal search of one of the attackers, law enforcement officers found a large-scale narcotic substance, as well as a pistol with cartridges.

Note that earlier in 2019, law enforcement agencies successfully opened many IG cells on the territory of Russia.

In the journal "Police of Russia" published data, according to which since the beginning of the year, the efforts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, together with the FSB officers, have revealed conspiracy IG cells in 17 regions of the country.

We are talking, in particular, about the Krasnodar, Stavropol and Krasnoyarsk Territories, Moscow, Astrakhan, Vladimir, Moscow, Rostov, Samara, Saratov, Tyumen Regions, as well as the republics of Dagestan, Adygea, Kabardino-Balkaria, Chechnya and Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo- Nenets Autonomous Okrugs.

In addition, in the first half of 2019, 14 facts of “organization of an extremist community” and 90 cases of the activity of such groups were also revealed, as well as 972 crimes of a terrorist nature were revealed. In 2018, 1,679 such incidents were recorded.

As his author, the head of the Main Directorate for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Major-General of the Police Oleg Ilinykh clarified in a material published in the Police of Russia, terrorist crimes are "one of the main threats to the national security of any state."

At the same time, he added that today law enforcement agencies have the necessary resources to successfully counter them.

According to him, work is underway to prevent destructive ideologies among young people. Ilyinykh emphasized that this issue was of particular importance after the incident in Kerch in the fall of 2018, when an 18-year-old student attacked his peers and teachers. As a result of this crime, 21 people died and another 67 were injured.

Operation in Kabardino-Balkaria

One of the major results of the work of law enforcement agencies in recent years has been the detention of militants in Kabardino-Balkaria who were preparing a terrorist attack.

Thus, the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out a counter-terrorist operation on the outskirts of the city of Chegem, where militants and their accomplices were hiding. Law enforcement officials suggested that the attackers surrender, but they began to shoot and were eliminated by return fire. None of the security forces and civilians were injured during the operation.

According to preliminary investigators, one of the suspects is a local resident born in 1995, and the second, born in 1999, arrived from a neighboring republic.

Subsequently, a search was carried out in their house. Employees of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs found a makeshift explosive device, machine guns and ammunition in the room.

As a result of the operation, criminal cases were initiated under the articles “Illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of weapons committed by a group of persons”, “Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of explosives or explosive devices committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy” and “ Violation of the life of law enforcement officers. ”

We add that at the same time another terrorist was detained, who was in Dagestan. As stated in the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC), he planned to carry out a terrorist attack against law enforcement officers and authorities of the republic.

It is specified that the attacker born in 2000 was detained in the forest when trying to remove a large-capacity improvised explosive device from the cache.
