In total, there are about 30 service spaces at Kanthal in Hallstahammar that will be removed on the official's side. 16 of these are about vacant services that will not now be reimbursed. The remaining 14 services will be taken from the existing staff and will be resolved through pension solutions and severance pay for people who are voluntarily interested in such a solution.

A solution

-It feels good with such a solution where you can sit down and discuss yourself in a constructive way with the people involved, at the same time it is obviously harder to get together what is to be done on fewer people for the future business, says Niclas Widell, club chairman for IF Metall at Kanthal.

A great saving measure

The measure is part of the Sandvik workshop savings package where the workforce is to be reduced by around 2000 people. For Kanthal's part, a declining order intake is also evident and on the workshop side other measures have been taken in the business.

“We feel a declining order intake and have recently reduced our staff with 18 hired consultants,” says Niclas Widell.
