A3 near Würzburg: pile-up involving around 40 cars. More than 30 were injured, some seriously.
A police spokeswoman said that Autobahn 3 in the direction of Nuremberg was completely closed. Photos show vehicles wedged together, some of which are covered by tarpaulins to provide privacy. The Bavarian Red Cross said 31 people were injured in the accidents on Sunday afternoon in heavy rain, four of them seriously. The police have since spoken of a “confusing” situation.
