The Sharjah Criminal Court has begun reviewing the case of an Asian driver sentenced in absentia to 10 years' imprisonment and a fine of 5000 dirhams for running over a person and running away.

The details of the incident occurred when the accused was tried in absentia, due to the complainant's run over, causing sporadic injuries, including a broken foot, and escaped from the scene without the ambulance of the victim who was hospitalized and received treatment, and then filed a complaint against him, but the accused did not attend the hearings, which made The court convicted him of his act.

The defendant said that he was trying to escape from the victim and the people who were with him.

The court decided to postpone the case to the hearing of September 22 next.
