“The Finnish minelayer Hämeenmaa, while fulfilling the duties of controlling the state border, entered the territorial waters of Russia by approximately 600 meters,” the Finnish Navy said.
They indicated that having noticed an error, the ship immediately returned to international waters.
The Finnish navy launched an investigation into the case.
In July, the Finnish Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen said that the country does not see a military threat from Russia, but will continue to develop its defense capability.
