The National Committee for Human Rights in Qatar revealed that the health of Qatari student Abdul Aziz Saeed Abdullah, who is arbitrarily detained in Saudi Arabia, has deteriorated due to the harsh conditions he faces in Saudi prisons.

The committee said it had received information indicating the deterioration of the student's recent health due to torture and deliberate neglect in solitary confinement since his arrest without presenting him to the doctor for medical care and treatment.

The student has been forcibly disappeared since 6 July 2018, before the Saudi authorities announced his whereabouts in May to the UN Panel on Enforced Disappearances.

Since June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia, along with Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt, have cut diplomatic and diplomatic ties with Qatar and imposed a land, sea and air blockade.

The National Human Rights Commission condemned this arbitrary detention, which it said contravened all international laws and conventions, in particular article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

The Committee also charged the Saudi authorities with full responsibility for the life and physical and physical integrity of the student, and called on the Saudi authorities to release him immediately. The High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Panel on Arbitrary Detention and the United Nations Human Rights Council also called for immediate intervention to stop these grave violations against Qatari citizens in Saudi prisons.
