Without mentioning it, California has enacted a law to prevent Donald Trump from appearing on Republican primary ballots for the next presidential election ... Unless he releases his taxes, which he has always refused to do until now.

The Democratic Governor of California enacted a law on Tuesday that would prevent Donald Trump from appearing in that state on his party's primary ballot papers for the presidential election, if he does not publish his tax returns.

His lawyers judge the law unconstitutional

The law, which took effect on Tuesday, does not explicitly mention President Trump, who will be except huge surprise will be a candidate for re-election in the presidential election of 2020. The organization of a republican primary seems however unlikely at this stage , the elected representatives of his party bringing him mainly their support. Donald Trump has always refused to disclose his tax situation, as all his predecessors have done for 40 years, and the Democrats are trying by all means to force the president to make it public.

The California measure stipulates that any presidential candidate must provide five years of tax returns in order to contest the nomination of a party in California, the most populous US state. It had been adopted by the Californian elected last month. President Jay Sekulow's attorney told the US media that California law would be subject to litigation. According to the National Conference of Local Parliaments (NCSL), 17 US states have reportedly introduced similar legislation this year.
