The official Sudanese news agency quoted the governor of the state of North Kordofan, Major General Sadiq al-Tayeb Abdullah, that the number of deaths in the events, which occurred yesterday in the city of Al-Abyad, amounted to five deaths, most of them students.

Al-Wali said during his meeting with journalists and reporters that the march of secondary school students was peaceful and called for improving transport services, but deviated from its goals after some of the students intervened.
