The funeral of journalist-investigator and writer Pierre Péan will take place on July 31 in Bouffémont, in Val d'Oise, where he lived, said Saturday to AFP his son, the writer Jean Gregor.

"There will be a religious ceremony at the church of Bouffémont at 14:00 and we will go to the cemetery after, it will be complicated because it is a small church and I understand that there are people coming," said Jean Gregor. A "pot of friendship" will then be organized by the town hall.

Christophe Nick, author with Pierre Péan of an investigation on TF1 in 1997, also announced the date and place of the ceremony on his Facebook page.

"We can share the info, the number of messages that his family and his loved ones have received exceeds the understanding, we are afraid of not being able to answer all those who came forward to come in. Thank you all. overwhelming, "he wrote.

The journalist Pierre Péan, an experienced investigator whose favorite subjects in Africa, the media and the dark side of political figures, including the troubled past of former Socialist President Francois Mitterrand during the Nazi occupation, died Thursday at 81 years old.

President Emmanuel Macron praised Pierre Péan's "tireless quest for truth" whose work is "a legacy full of lessons for the present".
