The feverish Briton Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) clinched Saturday the pole position of the German F1 Grand Prix, the 11th round of the season on the Hockenheim circuit, in a failed qualifying for Ferrari in mechanical trouble.

The Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull) will be on his side in front of Finland's Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and France's Pierre Gasly (Red Bull). Monegasque Charles Leclerc, victim of a fuel supply problem, will be 10th on the grid, except penalties, and the German Sebastian Vettel, victim of a turbo problem, will leave last.
