Chloé Paquet of France, 156th overall, surprised her compatriot Caroline Garcia, although ranked much better than her (22nd), 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, in the second round of the Jurmala tournament (Latvia), to afford the second quarter-final of his career.
Chloé Paquet, 25, reached her first quarter-final in Strasbourg last May before losing in half against ... Caroline Garcia.
But this bad memory did not disturb him at all when the pressure was very strong. Garcia, also 25 years old, led a set and 4-2 before Cloé Paquet woke up. It was first equalized before making a break in the final round and conclude the game after nearly two hours (1:57) of fighting.
In the next round, Chloé Paquet will be opposed to the winner of the match between Croatian Jana Fett, invited by the organization, to the Polish Katarzyna Kawa, resulting qualifications.
