What is the red alert?

The different levels of heatwave vigilance were created in 2004 by Météo France, as a result of the deadly heat wave of 2003 . The aim is to alert the authorities and the population to the level of risk of a given situation ... Red vigilance, the highest level of this scale, corresponds to an " exceptional intensity ". According to Météo France, in this case, absolute vigilance is required and everyone must regularly inform themselves of the evolution of the weather.

As for the orange vigilance, the red alert means that there is danger for the healthy people as well as for the more fragile subjects, like the old people or sick ... And the phenomenon being even more intense, the danger is obviously exacerbated.

Météo France therefore gives several recommendations if you live in an area of red alertness: stay in cool places such as supermarkets, close your shutters and curtains in the day, do not go out at the hottest hours ... but also call a doctor in case of discomfort, even the town hall if you need help ... and regularly take news of the most sensitive topics in your area.

What worries us is that this red vigilance concerns the north of the Loire, the north of the Seine, territories that are not used to this temperature level: 40 °, 41 °, 42 ° , maybe 43 ° in the heart of Paris ...
