Former British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday won the leadership of Britain's ruling Conservative Party, replacing Prime Minister Teresa Mae, becoming Britain's new prime minister.

The Conservative Party announced that Johnson had won the expectations, winning the confidence of his party against his opponent, Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt, after a month-long campaign dominated by the country's exit from the European Union (BRIC).

"Our people trust us and we will achieve an exit from the European Union," Johnson told party members at a meeting in London.

Johnson has already pledged to withdraw Britain from the European Union at whatever cost and on the date set by the EU at the end of October, which is likely to beat his rival Hunt.
