Donald Trump said Saturday that he was ready to "personally" vouch for the US rapper ASAP Rocky, held in Sweden, and that he told the Swedish Prime Minister.

"I just had a very good phone call with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven who assured me that US citizen ASAP Rocky would be treated fairly," the US president wrote on Twitter.

"I assured him that ASAP would not run away and offered to personally vouch for his bail or any alternative," he added.

"Our teams will continue to talk to each other, and we have agreed to re-discuss in 48 hours!" Said Donald Trump.

ASAP Rocky, 30, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, is suspected of aggression after a fight on June 30 in Stockholm. He was taken into custody on 3 July in the Swedish capital after a concert with three other people.

A court later said it presented "a risk of flight" and a prosecutor asked Friday to remain in detention until July 25. He faces up to two years in prison.

His situation has returned to the ears of Donald Trump, to whom reality TV star Kim Kardashian - who has been received several times at the White House - has asked to intervene.

On Friday, the US president had reported on Twitter having also discussed with Kim Kardashian's husband, rapper Kanye West "of ASAP Rocky's incarceration". "So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!", Wrote Donald Trump.

Originally from New York, ASAP Rocky became known in 2011 with the release of a compilation entitled "Live Love ASAP". In 2013, he goes on with his first album "Long Live ASAP".

More than 610,000 people signed a petition on the internet #JusticeForRocky calling for his release.
