Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (72) qualified on Thursday for the third round of Wimbledon after dismissing Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis (77) in three sets 7-6, 6-3, 6-3.

The Frenchman confirms his good provisions on turf for a month, after having pushed Roger Federer in his intrenchments in Halle two weeks ago. After a first lap close to the farce that lasted only 57 minutes, where Bernard Tomic had sometimes played while walking, Tsonga has passed his second round with an opponent deemed solid on turf.

The French, twice quarter-finalist in London (2010, 2016), seems in any case on track after taking over only in May and a 6-month stop after a back operation.

As for Tomic, the organizers have also decided to impose a fine of 50,000 euros because of his attitude, the equivalent of his prize money.

Tsonga will face the winner of the match between Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios, the poster of this first week.
